Az..........wow! what a question! We constructed our own pond 4 years ago and it was awesome. The best info I found was a video tape I borrowed from our local library. I did a search for it and the library no longer has any, but maybe your does.

It really isn't all that hard, except for the labor. Have you purchased your liner yet? Be sure to check out some of the online sites as well as Bend Tarp. It is a great place to find great liners. I have included their web page. My best suggestion is just to spend the time and surf the net. I visited countless sites and took this idea from one and that suggestion from another and our is just about perfect - just wish it could have been bigger! We also made our own filter and it works beautifully and at about half the cost of a purchased one.

Also talk to or visit any pond contractors in your area. Great source of info.

From past mistakes, Avoid shelves around the edges, make them straight down. This helps keep out Herons and coons, and help keep the algae down. The three thing that make a great pond are, airation, filtration and circulation. Good luck and remember the only stupid question is the one not asked. We are here to help!
