Guess What

Well, today is my birthday and Hubby just gave me my present. He He, $500 to spend online ordering whatever I want! I just have to do it by tonight, that is the stipulation. So, I guess I'll be placing an order with Botanus, Lee Valley Tools, West Coast Seeds and T & M.

Or, do I just go all out and buy a yellow peony? That would take care of most of the money. Just think, I could be the only one around for miles that has one or would probably even care. :)

    Yes, Happy Birthday, Syreeta! Let us know what you ordered. I think i'd go for quantity - a yellow peony would be lovely, but if it didn't grow, you'd be out a whole bunch of money. Tell your dh my birthday is in May, if he's feeling generous then!

    Thank you everyone for the birthday wishes. I've spent most of the day trying to figure out how to get the most bang for my buck. I wasn't allowed to get the yellow peony, 'Too much money for one plant' I believe were his words. :0 Anyways, I'm still starting out plantwise and am missing lots of the basics so somethings are pretty plain.

    So.... here is my list;

    Unfortunately Botanus was out of the one thing I can't get anywhere else, one of their t-shirts that says 'Nice Bulbs' on the front and then has the website address on the back. :( I guess that means I'll have to place another order with them in the fall. You can't order just a shirt right?

    Thanks again for the birthday wishes everyone. I'll let you know when I have seeds or tubers for trade. :)

    Wow Syreeta, what a beautiful man you have there! The only stipulation is that you have to spend it on line in one day! I'm yelling this out loud to my old man sitting in the living room.

    What a nice gift and nice plants that you chose! You're going to be one busy gardener come this spring!

    I forgot to mention this to you Syreeta, last fall I bought 2 Laura Desser Peonies from Parkland Perennials. Double light yellow guard petals, canary yellow center. Fragrant.

    Although not a true bright yellow, its close enough ;)

    Here is a link that might be useful: Laura Desser Peony

    Thanks Sharon,

    This seems to be a popular gift when I tell people. I had the same gift last year as well. I just bought other things that I really wanted. I did get some gardening things but no plants. I realized after I spent the money this year that I should of gotten a few things from Parkland and Lilynook. I do like that Peony that you posted. I'll have to remember it in the fall. If I have any room. :) We'll see how many gardens go in this year. Now, if only I could come up with a reason for him to do the same in the fall. Hmmm... Nope, don't think I could convince him that he wants plants for our wedding anniversary.

    What will be interesting is to see the Aquilegia cross pollinate in a few years and see what the hybrids will be. Green Apples and Chocolate Soldier would be an interesting combo.
