Feel free to post in the Discussions section...there have been a couple of threads on grapes that would be worth searching on there, too...just search on "grapes". 'Beta', 'Valiant', and the original species, Vitus riparia, are reasonably reliable bets. Boughen Nurseries in Valley River, Manitoba is an excellent mail-order source (no website; order catalogue from 204-638-7618) for bare root woody plantings. They also sell 'F130' and 'Fredonia'. We've grown 3 of these ultra-hardy grape selections and find even them a bit touchy in NW Calgary...though a couple have survived over many years; chinooks may not be totally to their liking, as hardy grapes can do very well in zone 2. If you are in south Calgary, or the inner area, you'll proabably have better results. Unfortunately, nothing remotely resembling an "eating" grape will survive here outside of a greenhouse, but these hardy varieties make good jelly (and can be eaten out of hand if you like sourish, astringent fruit).
