Finished! But i'm reluctant to start the last one - because that's what it will be, that last one. :( I'll give it a little while today, i guess. Do some stuff around the house....

It's Christmas!! Time to open my present. Rats!! it's shopping day! I will have to open my present later.

Ha ha - my sister in Toronto says it looks like Christmas there, and, coincidentally, her new laptop was delivered today. Merry Christmas!

I've still been postponing Memories. I vacuumed, did some laundry, fooled around on the computer, read the newspaper. I need to go into town too, so that will postpone it further. :)

I had to go to town twice today then finally got home and the doorbell rang. Now it it time to make supper. I don't think I will get to open my present until tomorrow. My friend still has her tree up LOL we had 8 inches of snow last week but it is finally starting to smarten up and feel a bit like spring.

I just finished the prologue. I guess the balefire didn't work---- oh no balefire wiped her out of the wheel of time and sent her here. No wonder why they shouldn't use balefire.

I'm still on the prologue and hoping like heck that Talmanes finds an Aes Sedai. :(

Somewhere, part of the prologue must have been published already, because i know i read part of it. I remember Jarid's men abandoning him and one other part.

I posted on the WoT Facebook page that i was reluctant to start AMOL because it means the end, and several people agreed with me.

Now, this is funny. In all the time that i've had the book, i've never looked at the back cover. It shows two women, one with long dark hair (loose) and one with shorter light hair, but this one looks to have the ki'sain on her forehead. So who are they? Nynaeve has the ki'sain but she has long dark hair (lately loose and not in a braid). Elayne's hair is lighter but she wouldn't have the ki'sain. So, who are they? Maybe one of Jordan's RAFOs (read-and-find-out). Or maybe an artist who hadn't read the books. Or maybe Nynaeve gets a cut and dye? LOL

looks light brown and dark brown to me Nyneve and Morraine prolly. remember Nyneve cut her hair and she is a yellow. I think in the last chapter of ToM she had it loose-- Starting Chapter 10 -- this is one of the faster moving books.

Oh, i don't remember Nynaeve cutting her hair. And Moiraine! Right!

Not anywhere close to you, and i have transplanting to do....

So I looked it up and her hair changed after she got raised when she went through the ordeal in the oval ring.

Keep me up to date of what's happening so I don't spoil anything for you.

  • marciaz3 Tropical 3 Northwestern Ontario
    11 years ago

That's right, i remember now - her braid was just a stub when she came out of the ring.

I'm where Mat has arrived in Ebou Dar and has found out that there are assasins after Tuon.

Rand sure has gotten around in this book! I'm wondering where Min has gone - i must have missed something, which doesn't surprise me as half the time that i'm reading, i'm half asleep! LOL

The storyline that has grabbed my attention in this book is that of Androl and Pevara. I need to get back to the book to see what happens to them - when last i left them, Taim had taken off and left them to be Turned. I would imagine it's Taim and his cohorts who are channeling from Tarwin's Gap now.

I like the change in Rand. I was wondering about Min too? Wow I didn't figure out the Taim thing I guess I am not good with so many story lines. I forget so much I am reading in the moment. I think that is why I could go back and read these over and over and not get bored. I think I am at the half way point.

  • marciaz3 Tropical 3 Northwestern Ontario
    11 years ago

At first it seemed as if Taim was sincere, but more and more i figured he was a Darkfriend. And then when i went looking for clues as to who Demandred might be masquerading as, Taim was mentioned, but also that Jordan had said he was not Demandred. Roedran was also mentioned, but when Rand finally met him, he said that he wasn't Demandred either. Someone even mentioned Talmanes, but there's no way! At least i hope not. I really like him!

zipping my lips - I should say soon who he is.

Wow, never thought of Demandred being in Shara! I'm just where Mat and Tuon are going to bring the Seanchan army to help Egwene. Mat's new name - what a play on words! LOL

LOL ROFL I am glad you pointed that out I was pronouncing it wrong. You have caught up well. I guess it was good I left the book at home yesterday. Had an emergency trip to Edmonton my friends hubby got sick and she had a specialist appt. that would leave her unable to drive. I am prolly only a chapter or 2 ahead now. I have to finish before the weekend so I can focus on my trip to Vancouver. Not looking forward to the 13 hour drive.

  • marciaz3 Tropical 3 Northwestern Ontario
    11 years ago

13 hours! Yikes. I imagine if we go to Timmins this summer to see my dad, it will be close to that long, if not longer. My brother is about half way, fortunately, so we can spend the night there and break up the drive. We just can't do those long days driving anymore! Too old! LOL

One thing i wondered about was Shara, but i thought that if they hadn't turned up by now they never would. I was wrong! It makes sense that Demandred would be there, when you think about it. But lucky for Rand that Tuon signed his peace, because i can foresee the damane fighting against the Sharan channellers. I really wonder what's going to happen when the rest of the Seanchan realize that the sul'dam could learn to channel. I'm sure Tuon has an idea that she can but is in denial about it, and Thom has it figured out too. When they were in that fight after the "hell", Tuon must have channelled to kill those who were fighting Mat and Thom witnessed it. Mat, of course, seems to be blissfully ignorant of it all - so far!

I never thought of Tuon having channelled already, just call me Mat.

    Now on to the book.......................

Yes, i know - Graendal was in his dreams. Lord Agelmar is acting oddly too. I'm not sure if she was at Ituralde or not, but so far he has seemed okay.

I wonder if Rand will have to defeat the Dark One and then kill the rest of the Foresaken or if they'll become mortal without the DO's protection.

My memory is not what it used to be I have to go back and read the last 2 chapters I had questions in the middle of the night I couldn't answer.

LOL I was thinking that after i finish, i might go back and read it again.

The battle is still going on. Faile and her supply train just made it through the gateway with the bubble of evil behind them.

I think I was trying to make sense of what happened, I understand now, I missed some stuff. But I did end up looking up some stuff on WoT wiki.

    Get your tissues ready.

OMG you're right. I even cried when Bela died! :'( I'm not finished, still on the Last Battle, but i had to take a break. It's too awful!

  • marciaz3 Tropical 3 Northwestern Ontario
    11 years ago

Well, I finally finished this morning and i'm still trying to digest it all. Why did Rand turn into Moridin? And why did he leave everyone? Is he going to come back? How will Aviendha have her quadruplets, unless she's pregnant already? And poor Min - she has been with him the most and been through so much with him, and he's just gone. Damn men, anyway! LOL

I don't know if I have to re-read it just yet. I need to go and find something written about it to see if I missed anything.

See now you know why I had to go back and re read the last 2 chapters then look it up.

Crossed balefire and the connection is the guess most people have but I think Alivia had something to do with it helping him die.

An End that isn't an End.

  • marciaz3 Tropical 3 Northwestern Ontario
    11 years ago

But there isn't likely to be anymore books to end the end that isn't an end! LOL

Yes, i've been reading up on it too. I knew something happened in the crossed balefire, and then later Moridin seemed dedicated to keeping Rand alive, so maybe that was why - because he was actually Rand.

Ater going through a lot of theory stuff, i think i`ll re-read some of it - maybe the last couple of chapters, like you.

I`m still kind of sad and disappointed in the ending, but i see some of the reasoning for it - especially now that i read some of the theories. What they were saying is that the Dragon`s Peace couldn`t be upheld if he were still alive, so that`s why it had to appear as if he was dead. And Min, Elayne and Aviendha knew he was still alive, but his poor father was so sad, and not a word to him. :( Or to Mat and Perrin. And i would have liked to see how things went with Mat and Tuon.

One thing that mixed me up was when Perrin was in the cave and Lanfear appeared. I thought for awhile that she had been masquerading as Faile, but i guess if i read it again, it might be clearer. Also, i missed the old Aiel woman - it`s theorized that she is the same one Aviendha saw in the Waste on her way to Rhuidean.

Apparently Jordan wanted to leave some things unended. I wonder if he was considering another series.

I was disappointed in the ending. I wanted to see babies and life after the big war. I like neat and tidy happy endings. I am not sure why everyone thinks quads or twins for Aveindia I might have missed something but I only remember 4 children not that they were the same. I really didn't like that if you wipe out the dark one completely that life wouldn't be good. Seems to imply in heaven where there is no evil we would all be puppets.

  • marciaz3 Tropical 3 Northwestern Ontario
    11 years ago

Min said that Aviendha would have "four babies from Rand - all at once!". I don't remember for sure when she said that, but possibly when he and Elayne got together that one time.

I wanted to see all that too - the babies, and how the "family" would work with three wives! I think that what they were getting at was that if there was no Dark One, people still wouldn't have a free will because everything was good and there was no choice otherwise. Heaven is different, i think - you've had your free will and you chose to be good so you're in a place where it's all good. Heaven is your reward for choosing good when you were on earth with your free will.

Thinking again about Mat and Perrin - since Mat is married to Tuon, if he knew that Rand was still alive, he might leak it to her, thus negating the Dragon's Peace. And the same with Perrin because Faile is now Queen of Saldea. But Tam? I think he deserves to know. Maybe the girls will enlighten him. He'll be the grandpa, after all - maybe he's bound to find out!

I guess I was thinking final battle the end of all evil.

I found the viewing about Aveindia but it makes me wonder what the purpose of putting it in there was if it did not lead anywhere.

Did you know there were 2500 characters in the series no wonder I had problems keeping it all straight.

  • marciaz3 Tropical 3 Northwestern Ontario
    11 years ago

Maybe at the time the viewing was put in, there was a plan for a different ending, or maybe that's something that's changed since her visions at Rhuidean.

I'd heard about the number of characters. It's amazing! But with that many story lines, etc., there had to be.

I'm having trouble starting another book. Everything seems to pale by comparison.

I haven't started a new one yet. Thinking of a fluffy romance to change the pace. That way there will be no comparison. And an easy read will be perfect for my trip. I leave tomorrow and not looking forward to the long drive. I am in need of a gateway that my car will fit through I think it would make family visits so much easier.

So are you sad it's over or have you started to re read already. Still not sure I liked the ending but Oh well. I can write my own in my mind.

  • marciaz3 Tropical 3 Northwestern Ontario
    10 years ago

Oh, I can't not read, so I've read a couple since then, but neither book was all that good. I started another one yesterday. I'm catching up on some young adult books that I might have read over the winter if I hadn't been reading AMoL. And I haven't gotten back to any of those sites - guess I got to the point that I didn't want to think about it for awhile. Maybe I will and see what other people have to say.

Have you ever read Gilbert Morris - Seven Sleeper series. It is great for kids. Maybe grade 4-5.

I really can't write either but in my mind I have changed some stuff for my very own ending LOL

  • marciaz3 Tropical 3 Northwestern Ontario
    10 years ago

How did you have it end?

I'm not sure what i would have done with it, especially now that i've read that the Dragon's Peace would have been void if Rand was still alive. But i really don't think i would have him riding off into the night with only one backwards glance. I know that i would want him to talk to his father and let him know that he was still alive. Somehow!

I am a happily ever after girl so I would have Rand destroying the shadow for good then babies healthy and happy. I don't buy the theory that destroying evil would make them puppets.

Those are expensive little bookmarks. I am bad I splay out my books and wreck the spines.
