Lilies 2008

sazzyrose

My first lily has opened.

{{gwi:708883}}

Sterling Star

It still is in a pot along with about another 100 that need to be put into the ground yet.

I'm in the process of making raised beds. Until that gets done, they have to stay in their confined homes.

I should finish walking around the house before I post.
Another one. Always the first lily to bloom for me.

Shelley, I also have lilies blooming. All in pots. All in the sunroom. I have Purple King and Holland Beauty OTs blooming and giving fragrance to that side of the house. Cappacino, Burgundy Splash, Yellow Pixels, Sugar Jewel and America are all blooming also. The orientals I got this spring, all have buds on them and just got planted into the planters on the deck last night, as a centerpiece amongst the wave petunias.

Isn't it nice to see each kind of perennial come into bloom?

Shelley, that second lily, is it called Dauricum? That's the same one that I have blooming right now, and I don't know the name of mine for sure.

I think it is L. dauricum, a type of species. I am not totally positive, but pretty sure.

Ok, that's what I think I'll call it then, Shelley.

Well, here is my first ever Martagon lily blooming in my yard.

I got it from the MLA fall sale two years ago, and it was labelled 'White Seedling'.....looks kind of pink to me.;0)

first bloom of Little White Kiss - it's so cute
    (usually has more burgundy speckles)

Aphrodite - (not quite open) this one changes so much depending on the weather. Some years it is a pale pink and then like this.
    (and a very fast increaser)

Ohhh, can't wait for my Dalhansoni to bloom, I don't think it will be this year though.

    Deb, Little White Kiss is cute, she's on my wish list now ;

    L. philadelphicum - finally I have it growing in my garden!

Sharon, I'm not a big Tango Lily fan, but I'm lovin that one! The petals are huge! All those are just great, I can't wait for mine to get going!

Darn it! My L. cernuum album didn't make it through the winter.:(

I'm enjoying everyone's pictures, but I can't get over how late the lilies are blooming this year. My Lollipops are usually blooming the end of June, and they're not even starting to colour up yet.

Only one of the martagons i planted last fall showed up this spring and then it disappeared. Guess they didn't like where they were planted. Sigh....

  • Laurie_z3_MB

Oh no, Marcia! Don't give up hope! I've heard that a lot of time martagons will do that....not show up their first year at all, and will come the following year. So keep that area marked so you don't accidently dig there.

oh oh OH! those are so pretty.

Where are your favorite places to buy these? I haven't got any and the ones I see around here aren't that nice.

    Thanks for sharing.

Oh I really like your L. cernuum album Sharon! And I'm hoping my Cappuccino's look that nice when they get their act together and bloom.
I agree Laurie...my lilies are usually way earlier than this, but guess we will enjoy the show later:)
Karyn, not that I buy from alot of places, but I find the Lily Nook one of the best, I also have gotten some from Parkland. The ones I've gotten from Vesey's that were on sale, have almost always been the wrong kind!
I did buy my Cappuccino's from them last fall, so they better be them....

    Awesome pictures everyone!

Here's a few that have opened in the last few days here:

    Tropical Dream

    Tinos

    Spirit

I love the dark buds on 'Something Else'.

    Royal Dream

    Lollipop

    Aphrodite...Thanks Shelley!

Well Sharon I really don't know what mine is and it is more pink than red. I just don't remember getting anything like it! Oh well, don't look a gift lily in the mouth right ; )

    Newest arrivals!

    Latvia

    Cannes

Kansas - first bloom on this one, just put in last fall : )

Finally, i have some lilies starting to bloom!

Russian House, one week and then the next:

(except for the fact that i just realized that i haven't taken this week's picture yet! LOL)

    A few more for me:

    Bicolour Ballerina

    Tropical Breeze

    Dimension

Martagon 'Amelita', that I bought because I have an aunt Melita.

  • i_heart_flowers

    And a few more....

Centerfold - I just love how its filled out!

    Tavello

Just not sure (seem to have a lot of that in yard!)

Top Gun - first bloom!(another new one from the Lily sale last fall!)

So I was checking out the Lily Nook site - very dangerous thing to do by the way - thinking I could id my white one here. Didn't have much luck as there were quite a few that look just like it! They did have Tavello and it looks a lot different then mine - more creamy colour to it. And I'm sure I have the right tag on this one! Anyone else have it? Another case of mistaken identity?? Oh well.....

    Cheers all!
