Some of these haven't quite bloomed yet...

Old Man's Whisker's

Not sure if this is Wild Lily of the Valley or Three leaved False Solomon's Seal...I'm leaning towards Wild Lily of the Valley due to the fact that it wasn't in a bog.

Twining Honeysuckle...I love finding these! They seem so tropical for our northern woods.

Anyone else been out walking in the woods lately?

I haven't been out since I posted my June 6 pics under the thread nature walk. I'm not sure if anyone even saw them.

Your pictures are just lovely. Makes me want to get out there again. Is Old Man Whiskers the same as geum triflorem? I think that's the one I have growing in my yard, started from seed last year. I'm seeing it in bloom for the first time and am really enjoying it. The flowers look exactly like your picture and have for quite some time. I don't think they open much more than that. At least mine haven't.

Yup, it's the same plant. And yes that's as open as they get. It says in my book they are AKA Prairie Smoke. Glad you enjoyed the flowers. They were fun to phototgraph :)

I'm sure I saw your last post, just never posted on it :) I wouldn't miss the orchids you find for the world!

Great photos Toots. I have lots of wild roses blooming right now and my Prairie Smoke that is planted in my garden is starting to smoke right now ;) I'll see if I can take a photo of it smoking later on.

Toots, if you don't mind, could you save me some of seed from that Golden Corydalis, my plant didn't make the winter, I think it had to much shade and it rotted away.

I really need to take a break from my garden and go for a walk on the wildside ;)

Geum trifolium Prairie Smoke - I quicky ran out and took a photo....I only have a little patch in my garden, but I would imagine a whole field of smoke would looks so awesome.

Sharon, Well, you know I've never noticed Prairie Smoke when they're puffed out like that! I was kinda wondering where they came up with that name. LOL. They don't seem to grow in groups around here, just here and there.
I can sure try to save you some seed, they're just making pods right now. Don't they grow around your area? You might be able to just dig up a clump. They're very common here in the aspen woods and open areas. They are actually putting on a beautiful show this year with huge clumps and lots of flowers on them.

Here's my Geum triflorum. It's blooming a lot later than Sharon's. They don't grow around here as far as I know. I grew this one from purchased seed.
