Lilies 2007

sazzyrose

This spring I was quite excited to find double asiatic Ceres bulbs. They are dark pink. Last year I had ordered some from a seed source and ended up with Sphinx, a double red.

Look what one of the bulbs flowers looks like. It has 8 petals. I do not know if it is a fluke or is a double. Maybe when the next bud opens, I'll be able to tell.

I hope the mislabeling doesn't continue like it did last year. And I hope the other bulb is the real Ceres.

Grrr. On Friday I renamed my lilies at Photobucket so they would be in alphabetical order. I tried a few first to see what would happen on GW, and nothing did. But today I noticed that some of my pictures are gone.I am reposting mostly new pictures from the last couple days. Sorry.

    Here they are again.
    Aphrodite

Bakersfield. I'm wondering if this one is true. It was a Wally World purchase. I think that there is too much red.

    Butter Pixie

    Cappuccino

    China

    Corianne

    Denia

    Dimples

    Fata Morgana

    Honeyqueen

Jacqueline- I am wondering if this one is true. Another chain store special. She is not supposed to have any spots

    Lollypop

My not Hallowe'en that is probably Loreto

Midnight Passion- which I am thinking is Monte Negro after seeing it this one bloom. It is missing the white stipe down the middle.

    Monte Negro

    Mount Duckling

    Navarra with African Moon Daisy

Of course you're not hogging anything Shelley. I love Silverwood, that one is so cool! Brenda, I have one that looks like your 'Spirit'. I don't have a pic because I donated them all to a funeral recently (my poor garden is denuded).

Two new ones for me today,

    Party Diamond (I like!)
    {{gwi:702009}}

    and Tropic Diamond

I've noticed that most of my new LA's are scented.

Yes, Silverwood does have very unique markings doesn't it? I like it!

It's also interesting in how close Something Else and Raspberry on Whip are. It's also interesting how much variation of the red colouring there is from flower to flower on both of them too. Oh well, I think they're both stunning anyway!

Your diamonds sure do sparkle there, Gillian!lol It's such a treat for them to be scented too.....gotta like that!

I like Silverwood too. I bought it from Lisa's Lilies last fall. Unfortunately it was one of the ones that didn't split over winter.
Gillian, I had both Party Diamond and Tropic Diamond on my list this spring and then I removed them. Dang, I now wish that I wouldn't have.
Laurie, the difference that I found with Something Else and Raspberry on Whip is that SE opens somewhat peachy color while RW is more white.

    Lemon Pixie

    My fave..Purple Reign.

I love tall lilies too, my tallest is Corrida which luckily I remembered to put in the middle of the bed. I haven't measured but I think it's over 4'.

Sharon, there you are. You haven't been posting pic's for a bit. I've been missing them. Love your AB Bicolor BTW. It was on my wish list but now I have to have it.
A couple that I forgot before.

Does this look like Starburst Tango?

Looks like Latvia to me. This is the second one of 5 Tangos that are mislabled from you know where. We'll see what happens with the other 3.

Cocktail Twins is so different that it is awesome. Yes it is yellow and red.

Here is a photo of my Latvia from last year. Looks like SB has more fused flecks in the center.
My Starburst hasn't bloomed yet, but I 'll make sure I take a photo to compare to yours.

There are so many Tango's that look alike, it's very confusing.

Royal Paradise is also putting on a great show.

Sharon, Starbust is a red tango. The yellow lily that I got isn't even close. Otherwise I wouldn't have questioned it. My other yellow tango Honey Bee has yellow buds, so they aren't mixed up.
Laurie I love your Ice Diamond.
Gillian if you like tall lilies do you have Dolly Madison? I cannot capture the pink, but it stands out. I haven't seen a pink like it on lilies. Bright..bright ..bright. I'll try taking pictures of it later to see if I can capture how pink it actually is.

Claret Sunburst-looking alot like Pink Pagoda except lighter.

    Rosalinda-what a nice color combination.

Wizard -I'm not sure if I like this ones colors.

Shelley, here I thought you were asking about Latvia, doh, must be the muscle relaxers I'm on ;)

Toots, I just love your Marti, does it grow quite tall, if so, it could be L. dalhansoni. Check out the Lily Nook and see what you think.

Your second photo is not a true tiger lily, most likely a Asiatic cultivar. L. tigrinum has down facing, reflexed orange flowers with large brown spots throughout. Forms bulbils in it leaf axils. The most well know of the species, the Tiger lily

It is amazing at how many different kinds and colors of lilies we at Far North all have between us. We need to set up an exchange forum just for the Far North.

Shelley, I checked the Cosmic Blast. I got a few small bulbs of it a few years ago from a friend and I think I should be able to dig out and divide this fall when I plan on dividing a lot of lilies for the Farmer's Market. The stalks are short and it is not planted in the most ideal condition in the yard so it needs to be moved. I should be able to get you a bulb(s) at that time or in spring.
