Plants & Misc that start with 'A'

Crazy_Gardener

What do you say we start the alphabet albums again?

Post any of your garden/indoor plants or any gardening related miscellaneous that start with A, its your choice whether it be botanical (latin) or common name.

If someone would like to start posting, that would be great!

IÂll post some of my A photos tonight after work ;)

Stay tuned, every week or other week will continue on to the next letter(s) in the alphabet! Please join in, should be enjoyable and make time fly by for the winter months!

Sharon

Very nice Laurie! It's cold here today too, so it's so nice to bring back summer thru our photos.

I just l-o-v-e your 'Azure Skies' Iris!

I tried to WS'd Arenaria montana in 2005 with no luck, I think it got too wet and the seeds rotted? I would love to have this plant in my rock garden someday ;)

Gil, what happened to your Autumn Sunset? Did it not make the winter? That was one of my favourites from your garden.

Sharon, if you come out for the reunion, I'll have to give you a piece of Azure Skies(how's that for incentive?!LOL). That arenaria was w/s in 2005. Out of quite a few seeds, I only had 2 plants make it. I probably should have checked them to see if they made any seed or not. I don't seem to remember seeing any seedheads on them though.

A piece of 'Azure Skies', ok, that's incentive to come out for sure!

I'm going to try WS'ing again with the Arenaria. Don't worry about collecting seeds, I don't want your boots to get filled up with snow....I think I still have a few seeds left from JL Hudson, but thank you anyway ;)

Sharon, you will love Always Afternoon. It's nothing exotic but just a really good plant all round. The petals are sparkly too!

Laurie, yeah Autumn Sunset died its first winter. I was really shocked. Nothing else died that winter... and it had been so vigorous all summer. I think it was a bad spot, it was on top of a small hill and I think it was too dry when the ground froze. I would like to buy it again and see if I can keep it going... I really liked the colour.

BTW Sharon your 'Autumn Red' DL looks so much like mine that I lost the name of... but I know there are so many similar red daylilies.

Well, if and when my Always Afternoon blooms, I will always remember of you in the afternoons Gil! LOL

'Autumn Red' is a pretty common daylily in our neck of the woods, a oldie but a reliable goodie, so it must be it Gil ;)
