Plants & Misc that start with 'A'

Crazy_Gardener
16 years ago

What do you say we start the alphabet albums again early this year, that way we won't be so crunched for time before spring gets here.

Post any of your garden/indoor plants or any gardening related miscellaneous that start with A, its your choice whether it be botanical (latin) or common name.

If someone would like to start posting, that would be great!

IÂll post some of my A photos tonight after work ;)

Stay tuned, every week or other week will continue on to the next letter(s) in the alphabet! Please join in, should be enjoyable and make time fly by for the cold winter months!

    Those are beautiful "A" photos Sierra and Savona!

    I really like your Purple Sensations Sierra and your flowerbed on the deck Savona!!!!!!!!!

    Hmmm, I'm not sure why I don't get rust on my HH, perhaps its because they are in full hot sun, all they get is the rain, no overhead sprinklers.

    I am really enjoying looking at all the pictures. Now, my turn...a few of my 'A's...

    Here is an african violet that I had for a few years until one summer I spent too much time outside and all the inside houseplants suffered. It was very pretty...was is the key word.

    Two alstromerias that I grew this past summer (and are still growing in the sunroom yet) are...

    Oxana

    Theresa (I have a cousin Theresa and so, chose to get this one this year)

    I have a few 'A' daylilies. Alaqua needs to be moved out of the shade so she will bloom properly, Apricot Sparkles and Atlanta Royalty were purchased in 2006 and did not bloom yet. But, I have 4 daylilies that have bloomed here already that start with 'A'...

    Abbey Dore Court. I like its variegated foliage.

    Always Afternoon

    Angel Artistry. New purchase and it just bloomed for its first time last summer. I am sure that the future flowers will be much better than this one I posted.

    Avante Garde. Just bloomed for the first time last summer, also. I am expecting a much nicer bloom in years to come. This one is almost open, but not quite.

    This summer I realized that I really hadn't taken many pictures of all the hostas that I had so I started to do so. I am taking a picture of the plant, individual leaf and then one of its flowers. Some varieties are complete, while others I only have one of the three taken. Some of the hostas need to be moved in my yard this summer due to being planted in dry shade... and the lack of moisture.

    Here is August Moon Hosta... I love its deep veining and corregated effect on its leaves.

    A close up of a leaf of Aureomarginata Hosta...

    Of the 11 'A's in irises...here are 7 of them that have already bloomed...

    Aachen Elf (MTB)

    Advance Design (SDB) is a 2006 purchase that I really like. It is planted next to other multicolored irises and that combination really sets off each of them. It often throws a 4th petal into its flowers.

    Ageless (SDB) iris. I really like how the dark red/orange beard contrasts with the salmon pink standards and falls.

    Alene's Other Love is an SDB iris. I love the coloring on it.

    Appleblossom Pink iris is an IB iris. It is a very light pink.

    April Ballet (MDB) iris is a cute little iris.

    Az Ap

    Now for a few lilies...

    Ace of Spades

    Aladdin's Sun

    America

    Antarctica

    Aurora

    The first martagon I bought years ago...
    Autumn Color

    Avalanche

    A few alliums...
    Moly Allium

    {{gwi:701102}}

    Ostrowskianum Allium

    {{gwi:701643}}

    Anemones

    And finally, September Ruby Aster...

    Great pictures everyone! Although, I'm not sure if it helps to ease the pain of spring fever, or just feeds it more!LOL

    My turn for A's. I'm not going to bother posting any plants that have already been shown, so here's a few different A's:

    'Abundance' clematis
    {{gwi:702926}}

    'Alba Luxurians' clematis.

    'Asian Artistry' daylily

    'Azure Skies' TB iris

    Really now, where have I been? I haven't even remembered to check the Gallery for 2 months... so I shall start at A and get some pictures in!

    (BTW beautiful pics everyone, too many to comment on individually but WOW)

    Always Afternoon, an old fave.

    Oriental 'Acupulco' (an aside: this was taken on the hottest day I can ever remember... I walked outside and the camera lens kept fogging up. you can still see it a little in this pic)

    Asiatic 'Allegretto'

    'Agnes'

    'Autumn Circus'

    Alliums

    Anemones
    {{gwi:704951}}

    Alyssum saxatile (tho I think they have changed the latin name)
    {{gwi:704953}}
