One thing I didn't think of is that it may not have enough ventilation is you don't keep the door open. Problem with that is, birds will get caught in there :(

I wonder if those FlowerHouse ones at Lowes would be better?

All I want it for is to be able to start my growing season earlier. I wonder if anyone here has one??

The sides roll up on them and there are screens under them, so there'd be good ventilation that way. I didn't think about birds, but the doors are wide enough that they could find their way out, couldn't they?

2 years ago I bought a double pop up cold frame made by flowerhouse for the excess plants from my greenhouse. I can say I am very pleased with it. It is 4' wide and 8' long and 3 ' tall. It holds 7 to 10 trays of plants depending on the size of the plants and the room they require. It has a much sturdier covering than the veseys greenhouse and is easy to set up and take down. They say it can be rolled up and put in the bag that comes with it but I keep the stakes and the piece of landscape fabric I bought for the floor in the bag. When it comes time to put it away I remove the stakes, fold in the ends and then fold the whole thing in half. Then I wrap and tie it in a tarp and take it down to my basement where it fits nicely beside my storage cupboard. You can see it in the link below.

I haven't decided what on earth to get. Space is a factor. Wind is a factor. Storage is a factor. There's just so many choices and decisions to make. The Flowerhouse seems interesting but I'm not certain it could withstand our harsh winds, even for just a few months in the spring. The pop up cold frames may do the trick. Does the greenhouse in a box look too much like a car cover?

It looks like a car cover from the pictures, but that doesn't matter to me. If it does the trick, i'm thinking that I could get another one next summer - it's cheap enough! Space is not a problem for me, esp. since it's fairly small and we don't have the winds like you do. What I think about is snow load. Would the tarp have to be removed for the winter, or would I have to make sure that the path to it is shovelled out so that I could get to it and clean the snow off. That would be the biggest concern to me, that I can think of right now.

Finally tried to order the darn thing from Walmart and because we're considered a remote area (right on the TransCanada highway, but hey), they want to charge $600 in shipping. Made my day. If I rely on DH to build one, i'll be waiting another 20 years!
