I brought in my ROS last fall because they never make it through the winter if I leave them outside. I don't know id it's the harsh winds or what but they just don't survive. The ones I brought in are doing well. One of them is even budding up. I was wondering if it would be wiser to nip it in the bud so to speak. I was thinking that if I removed the bud it would put more energy into growing. Am I right to think this? Thanks for any suggestions. Marg

I would leave it be, I'm sure there will lots of buds to follow. Just pinch off those finished buds so that they don't produce seed. Fertilize regularly.

are you sure you have a ROS or Tropical Hibiscus? They are both in the hibiscus family and have similar flowers. ROS is hardy but you have to move trop hibs inside.

origami_master: I was given the seeds from my neighbour who has an 8' tree in her front yard. I've looked it up and I think it's 'Blue Bird'. Marg
