Great thread - I love quotes, and especially garden quotes.

This is one of my favorites: "I appreciate the misunderstanding I have had with Nature over my perennial border. I think it is a flower garden; she thinks it is a meadow lacking grass, and tries to correct the error." ~Sara Stein, My Weeds, 1988

"God made rainy days so gardeners could get the housework done." ~Author Unknown

This is a good reason to plant some flowers with the veggies: "A vegetable garden in the beginning looks so promising and then after all little by little it grows nothing but vegetables, nothing, nothing but vegetables."
Gertrude Stein

"A good garden may have some weeds."
Thomas Fuller

And this is my personal quote: "A good friend, a dog, a garden, a book, and a glass of wine makes for a very good life." Luckygal

No ray of sunlight is ever lost, but the green it wakes into existence needs time to sprout, and it is not always granted to the sower to live to see the harvest. All work that is worth anything is done in faith. -Albert Schweitzer

Everything that slows us down and forces patience, everything that sets us back into the slow circles of nature, is a help. Gardening is an instrument of grace. - May Sarton
