I use a Noma 1500w portable heater on the nights that dip down to -1C and below. I don't start taking my seedlings out till the middle of April. Last year I only had to plug it in once, hopefully it will be nice next month too.

I also use a little portable heater although there is the ability to run heated antifreeze through the lines that my DH installed on each table. The lines are covered with a layer of sand. I then place the plant trays on the warm sand.

I am hoping to get the greenhouse going in a few weeks also.

I had a wood heater in my old GH..and we put a different one in my new GH. It is like learning where to set the damper and how to control the heat all over again. Later in the spring when we convert our hot water tank in the house to a line from the out side wood furnace we will have him plumb a line into the GH and put a rad in there too. A week in the GH with the plants transplanted into larger pots is like 3 weeks under the lights in the plant room..no comparison...savona

My DM built me one in the fall. I still have to do some caulking in it. Some of the plastic/fiberglass is new...some is recycled. The new stuff, we put on the roof and one wall.
This way I it will be easier to replace the older when I decide too.
I'll post some pictures at a later date.

This is how my heater looks like, although it says Noma on it. I bought it at Canadian Tire a few years ago.

Sharon, yes, my mother. I told her to wait until this spring because I was in no shape to help her last fall. But of course she didn't listen.
She built a gazebo at the lake and used some of the left overs for my greenhouse. She's crazy...in her sixties she still will put shingles on buildings. (That is something I won't do- that is way to high)

That looks like a good heater. I was told to make sure it had a fan...for the hot days.
I'm off to the city again on Wed for another specialist appointment. I'll be checking out a few places.

Shelley, your mom astonishes me. My mother probably couldn't even walk over to my gh, she's got such bad arthritis in her hips and back.

I don't have a fan running in mine, that would cost a fortune to run all summer long, just leave the door open and a window open on the opposite side for air circulation, as well a vent(s) through the roof will help. I'm going to have to get DH to install a screen door up this year since those barn cats love to lay in there where its warm.

I just bought an electric heater this year for my little greenhouse. It has a feature that turns it on automatically if the temperature gets to something like +4, so I though that sounded good. I hope it does the job.
