Yes, but for most weeds it comes back,.. doesn't kill the roots.
Using boiling water would to the same,.. or, I have seen somebody using a blow torch,... instant brown! LOL

Anything in natural form fighting your weeds is better then chemical. I guess it would be a fast save remedy before your weeds go into seeds, even if you have to repeat.

I suppose they'd be easier to pull if the tops are dead like that. I like the idea of natural, though i have tried Round Up a bit the last couple of summers. Maybe it's too diluted or something, but it doesn't seem to really work.

My mom has a Lee Valley blowtorch for their patio. I think it has a long nozzle so you don't have to bend down.

I once saw a person trimming the edges of their lawn in the country to get the grass under control! It does a good temporary job and probably if you hold long enough in one spot would kill the root too!

Last year I borrowed a blowtorch and was going to use it between all the sidewalk blocks that had weeds.

DH advised me that I may want to be very careful, as explosive spalling was possible. Possible yes, very likely, maybe not, we're not experts but I decided against it. It scared me enough that I decided I'd rather use boiling water instead. I'll see what grows back this year.
