Rita, check out the Winter Sowing forum. Tom Clothier website says.... Liatris aspera, cylindracea, ligulistylis, punctata, pycnoshachya, scariola nieu , Sow at -4 to +4ºC (24-39ºF) for 12 wks, move to 20ºC (68ºF) for germination many empty seeds.

You should still have some time for a cold treatment if you W/S right now.

Or you can wait till next late fall and direct sow them.

Sharon, do you mean just put them into the ground (under some snow) in a bed and hope for the best. Please give me detailed instructions. I was thinking of planting them in a small bed next to the garage. There is quite a bit of overhang, but the bed gets heat reflected off the white brick and gets about 5-6 hours of mid day sun (my clary sage and cosmos do well here). The other spot is amongst my coneflowers in an open bed. I read alot of your posts and am learning alot. Rita

I have started many seeds using this method.

It's probably confusing because its spring time but its the method that I'm referring to ;)
