Suzy Verrier, who wrote books on Rugosa & Gallica roses,

describes 'Lillian Gibson' as simply the best climbing rose for harsh climates. It has been on my wish list for several years but since Cedar Hollow stopped shipping it has not been available. It is grown at Morden on a 6'fence and makes an outstanding performance each year. You can see Suzy's description and campaign to keep this rose going on the Antique Rose Forum (http://forums2.gardenweb.com/forums/load/rosesant/msg0211555316037.html)where she suggested that we ask our local Garden centers to order it from Baily Roses. I contacted Jeffries and they will have 10 of them for sale this summer. If you are looking for a hardy, fragrant and floriferous (although once blooming) climber that will survive in Manitoba, here is you chance.
