Grafters, especially Konrad and Thean Pheh, please comment on the last sentence of the following extract:

What can be grafted?

Most varieties of a particular fruit or flowering

species are interchangeable and can be grafted. Because

of differences in vigor, some are better able to support

others as understocks. For example, although a union

is possible, sour cherry is not a good understock for

sweet cherry.

Hello Grafters
Remember...
Mazzard (Prunus avium) or Mahaleb (P. mahaleb) seedlings. is used in sweet cherry growing region, Missouri is mostly zone 5 & 6, also Canada, BC is using these seedlings.
Alberta is not included, [too cold in winter] these seedling would not survive here, they are rated for zone 4, we are zone 3, this is why I use the hardier Pincherry , Sour Evans Cherry , or Amur Cherry root stock.

I will announce our annual scion wood exchange in a separate thread.
