Could it be a pink creeping phlox?

I know they use Periwinkle, bog cranberries, and there is one other (Kinikiniki) that I can't for sure remember the name of it is a native plants, hopefully badly spelled as it is it will jog someone, and heathers in the landscaping out there. They have alot of nice native groundcovers out there, because of the climate, that we do not see. Hope this helps.

How about arctic Phlox or is that the same as creeping phlox?

If it's Kinnikinnick, it's quite hardy here.

Funny story: The species was listed as hardy to zone 10 (!) in a plant book I bought for my parents in California, with a warning that it may not quite survive the "cold temperatures" of zone 9.

That is the other one I was trying to spell Shazam. I never paid to much attention to the groundcovers when I was out in Vancouver. Too many distracting exotics for a praire girl to try.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I've been googling the different varieties mentioned here and it looks to me like it was either creeping phlox or artic phlox. I'm going to do a little more research to try and get a good look at the leaves.

Those flowers were quite showy and it seems many people had them nicely diplayed in their yards. Businesses used them as well on their gounds.

What baffles me, is why I don't see these around Calgary. They are supposed to be hardy here.

I've got lots of creeping phlox in the backyard.

Live groundcovers are not popular in Calgary in general. The masses use cedar mulch.
