I used to have a cutting garden when I had fewer flower beds, now if I want flowers for the house I cut them from my flower beds. When I did have it I had a few perennials and some annuals-the perennials I had were--shasta daisy, Muskmallow,perennial baby's breath and asparagus fern--the last 2 being the mainstay of any bouquet. The rest were annuals Zinnias,Asters to name a couple and I usually bought a package of mixed seeds

Ah, a subject dear to my heart. I cut from various perennials around the yard, for sure, but also plant annuals just for cutting. Perennials I frequently use that are long lasting in a vase are peonies cut at marshmallow stage, Lady's Mantle blooms, Sweet William, Leopard's Bane, long stemmed hosta leaves, Campanula, Delphinium, Monkshood, Liatris, Heliopsis. Echinacea, Phlox and I'm sure there's more but those are what comes to mind at the moment.

Lilies - you need to leave 1/3 to 1/2 the stem for the health of the bulb so it's best to get the taller lilies. Or, if the bulb produces 2 stems then just cut one stem and leave the other.

Annuals - you just cannot go wrong with a planting of Rocket snapdragons for cutting. They're tall & strong, and long lasting in a vase. Clarkia, Agrostemma and Larkspur are *almost* as nice. Of course, sunflowers are a must and the hybrid pollenless are longer lasting and don't drop all that messy pollen in the house. Ammi is a nice filler flower. I prefer using annual Baby's Breath over perennial, Snow Fountain in particular. Annual Statice is also a great cut flower - I like to grow yellow and lavender and use them as filler in bouquets. Amaranthus Velvet Curtains, Indian Summer Rudbeckia (or any other Rudbeckia), Marble Arch Salvia, Victoria Salvia, Bupleurum, Cerinthe, Zinnias - I like the Benary's Giant mix because they're nice and tall and big flowers, any of the Centaureas and annual Chrysanthemums.
