Opinion on Newspaper pots

Hey everyone, I was wondering if anyone uses homemade newspaper pots? I made a bunch this year, different heights and diameters. Not using the expensive Lee Valley form, but a hairspray can and a soft drink can. ( they both worked very well)

I liked the fact that I could make them different heights for those plants that have long roots. So far I have sweet peas and zinnia's in them.

I think the newspaper will break down easy enough even in my short growing season and should not hamper the roots.

Has anyone used them and for what crops? I know my local paper uses veg ink so I was also going to try my squash transplants in them.

Any opinions? C
