Oops! Divided Iris Totally Wrong?

Well Hi Again =:)

In a previous post I asked about my Irises blooming so so at best. I decided to divide some knowing it may be the wrong timing, but since I wouldn't get much blooming anyway........

Well, I dug up a clump, broke it apart a bit, checked for mushy bits ( there wasn't any) and planted them spread out a bit.

Today I decided it might have been a good idea to find out if dividing an iris is different than a hosta. So, I checked the FAQ on the iris forum and it says to wash them off and then let them dry out for a couple of days in a shady spot. Oops! Is that always necessary? Should I just pull out and throw away my miserable mistake?

BTW If anyone you know throws away irises and other garden debris in their closed garbage bin and leaves them for two or three days and then you find out (clean garbage bin) and you take them home and throw them in a pot of soil for the winter in Zone 2b/3a, and hope they might survive......NOT! =:)

Weeper - If you're there - calling me "nuts" really isn't a stretch is it ??
