Jerusalem Artichoke tuber rot

Hello all! My Jerusalem Artichoke plots survived the winter well here in Peace River, but I wasn't pleased to discover that several of the tubers that I dug up this spring were spoiled by large, rotten areas (I reburied them and they've since sprouted). My soil is rich and well-drained; does anyone have any ideas how to prevent tuber rot? 2010 was the first year that I've grown Jerusalem Artichokes, and I was able to harvest a few small blemish-free tubers last fall.
