I have noticed the same thing on different plants, green but little or no growth, some I have cut back and some I will just wait and see what happens. If they don't get going it is hard to imagine that they will survive next winter.

Yes, I would agree with wayne61 ... if it doesn't soon come into good decent growth in the next few weeks it's likely just gonna perish.

I will give this poor Bombshell a couple more weeks.... if it still will not leaf out, then I guess I will just remove it.... so sad!

wayne61, what plants have you noticed this on please? My Arnold Red honeysuckle had ZERO growth on the existing stems but it has since been growing quite a lot from the base. So I had to prune off all of the existing wood, which was kind of painful to do..... sigh! Even my ninebarks are slow to get going this year!!! SIGH!!!

Valiant grape had sap coming out of cans that I had pruned off but only a little growth on the oldest canes, it is sending out vigorous growth from the crowns. White Meidiland rose had green canes this spring, they are still green but only a little growth. I had dug down around the roots and killed off a bunch of small brown ants that had set up a colony. I think that I should dig it up and really give it a good look, it bloomed like crazy and froze still blooming. Lambert Closse rose kept getting chewed on and was trying to regrow when it froze, very slow trying to come back. I had ordered a Prairie Stature oak but is some type of red oak, it had turned a very nice red last fall but died back. I trimmed off the dead wood to very good looking green wood but it is sending out new branches from about a foot off the ground. The Valiant grape really has me scratching my head, the others not so much.
