Didn't you know we're "a mix of zone 3 and zone 5"? That's what a Canadian Tire manager told me once when i questioned some of the zone ratings on fruit trees. LOL

Ha! I was told recently that they don't put zones on anymore because of climate change. Give me a break. They just want to distribute the same stuff all across the country. So much for supply chain management.

Marcia, then I want to move to zone 5 Alberta where it borders on zone 6 ... you know, that region where the sweet cherries and peach trees flourish, lol, lol.

I guess they anticipate that only a small percentage of folks will remember to keep their receipt and request a refund when the plant perishes. I wish they'd instead stock northern varieties, such as wild selections and their hybrids known for their extreme hardiness.

Yeah me too. Thing is, Zones 5 and 6 do occur in Ontario but i'm not moving down there, even to garden!

It will be interesting how this one holds up in comparison to 'Balsor's Black' ... I think BB "may" possibly prove to be a good choice for the prairies.
