Pictures of Tree Peonies and Azaleas in Edmonton

These pictures were taken a week and a half ago. I have had this tree peony since 2007 and it has only flowered once before this year. I got 3 blooms this year but it had intially 6 buds. For some reason these ones died. What can cause this???? I would like to know why it forms buds but later aborts them. Too much water??

Also, here is my "Rosy Lights" azalea which has gone through its 2nd winter and it has flowered beautifully. I consider this one hardy for the prairies. I am also trying a "Mandarin Lights" and will see how it does next year. Also, another failure was with a PJM Rhodo, it had some major dieback and no flowers after a relatively mild winter. Thanks everyone! I figured out how to post pics. Tree peonies are amazing but they dont last very long at all. Im still trying to figure out why my tree peony aborted 3 of its buds. Any ideas?

Check for botrytis, but peonies can abort buds because they're young.

My goodness, those Rosy Lights look great! Now I have some hope for growing azaleas here!!! Maybe if I grow some in my north facing front yard, just by my foundation in a protected area, that might just do it here in Chinook country!?

Picked up a Northern Lights yesterday. Planted it today. Yeah, so the whole time I was planting it I smelled what I thought was pot coming from somewhere.

Turns out the foliage smells like, um, pot.
