Had one, planted it right up against the house on the south side. Protected on one side by white fence and chimney chase on other. Covered it really heavily with leaves for the winter, and then moved and did not take it. It came up the next spring but the new owners ripped everything out so I do not how well it might have done or not. I had a really nice litlle micro climate, it was in a condo complex, but it will survive in a sheltered location in Edmonton

I received this variety from GardenImport, it's suppose to be one of the hardiest, I will protect it for winter.

Thanks for both your responses. Will give it a try planted on the east side of the house where it will be quite protected. I only paid $2.oo for mine Terry so it won't be so much of a loss if I lose it.

I had 4 of them 2 years ago, also that I bought on sale. Lots of growth that year. I planted them in a fairly non-protected area but on the south side of the fence. They all came back last spring really well but succumbed to the late spring frosts. I was so excited that they came back and then, poof, they're gone.

I like your idea of putting them into a container. It should work very well and it's an attractive plant for a container. I just might have to go on a search today.
