Tiny Little WS Plants

Hmmm.

My attempt at Winter Sowing wasn't very successful. First of all, I probably overplanted, as I got lots of tiny little marigolds, maltese cross, leeks, and ice plants.

Even the marigolds, which weren't as crowded, have teensy tiny little roots. Barely any at all.

So, other than overcrowding, is there any other obvious reason these didn't turn out so well? Should I have thinned them out a long time ago, just like I would have in the ground? Probably yes =:)

I planted a few "hunks" of maltese cross and ice plants to see what happens, and also planted a few of the marigolds.

Even though I didn't have much success, I'm still amazed at the whole process. I'll probably try again next year.

How successful were you?
