Event: Iris Show

Evening everyone.

If you are looking for something to do Saturday afternoon (June 13th) and are in the Winnipeg mb area, please drop down to the Bourkevale Community Centre, 100 Ferry Road and see the wonderful iris at the Can-West Iris Society's 2nd Annual AIS sanctioned show and sale.

Free admission and open to the public from 1 to 4 p.m. we welcome all to come down and see what Cold Zone iris people are growing. Exhibitors do not have to be CWIS members. If you are interested in exhibiting, bring your stems between 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. and some one will give you a hand getting them ready to show off. Don't know your iris's name ... not a problem. If we can't ID it for you, there is a section just for Unknowns too, that are eligible for CWIS ribbons.

So, come on down and see us. We look forward to seeing you there!

For those who don't know...Cold Zone is a group on Yahoo and we discuss all types of plants, the weather, etc. etc. and we also post lots of pictures from our gardens.

CWIS is also a Yahoo group, the Can-West Iris Society. This group is all about irises.

Both groups are basically made up of Canadian members in the prairie provinces but there are a few others from other provinces and some in the US who are members also.

I have learned a lot already from both groups about all kinds of gardening topics.

Any other Far North members who are members of either group?

BTW, I will be attending the iris show and hopefully (weather cooperating) will be able to bring irises to put into the competition.

I'm not a member but I'm interested in checking it out Brenda. I was not able to locate it on Yahoo; do you have a link I could try? Thanks, Debbie.

Thanks Brenda, but I was actually referring to the Cold Zone group. We just recently had Barb Jackson speaking on Iris at our club. Unfortunatly I was unable to go to the Iris show as our club was having a sale the same day. Next year I hope to be able to go.

Cold Zone Gardens is the name of the group.
