I have Goutweed around my Honeysuckle shrub, looks really nice. I have a plastic barrier edge around it and once in awhile have to apply Round Up around the outer edge to control it back. Tough plant, never have to water it.

I planted some creeping juniper under my big maple. I planted only on the south side of the tree, just back a bit from the drip line, and then mulched the whole area with crushed rock over landscape fabric. That soil is some of the worst in my yard, rocky, dry, at the edge of the driveway. The juniper seem to be thriving there - it's certainly taken up all of it's allotted space and I'm now having to prune it back (I may extend the area). I now have an old bent willow settee tucked in there and a large rock or two. Oddly enough I don't have a photo of it, I'll go take a shot of it later today.

Never thought of creeping juniper under trees, good idea Pudge!

Thank you for the replies. I never thought of junipers, and a bench is a great idea. This part of the yard isnt really used much, we have a huge yard, but right now it looks kind of neglected. If it wasnt right by the driveway I probably wouldnt bother but its the first thing you see.
I have seen goutweed by itself and it can look really nice, but IM kind of scared of it getting away on me.
Some times I wish I had a smaller yard to contend with.
