Sorry - just haven't had the time! Will try to get at it, though.

My garden has pretty much kaffed for the season. I keep reminding myself I should get some autumn perennials, but then I don't. Some of my roses are reblooming but that's about it.

My heliopsis is still going strong, but how many pictures of it do people want to see? LOL Most of my Oriental lilies died out this past winter, so there are, i think, two of them blooming now. The hollyhocks are lying on the ground (and dh keeps hopefully running over them with the lawnmower!). I bought an aster last week, and i see some other asters starting to come along, so maybe there'll be something nice to take a picture of soon.

Oh yeah I have asters coming too! And my rudbeckia looks nice. Maybe Marcia & I could start a gallery of our yellow daisy-like flowers...

I'd need to get some rudbeckia again, though! None of mine came back this year. :(

My containers are really starting to look shabby, and i've already dumped a few. The petunias are horrible, and the calendula that looked so nice last year barely bloomed - went to seed right away. I'll have to come up with some other container ideas next year.

I think my rudbeckia is a short-lived self seeder... it seems to migrate around but there's always some there.

My containers are looking ok because it's been rainy. I'm not good at watering containers. I had one really nice one this year of Sweet Williams and bacopa. And a big trough of lobelia that looks great. My tunies did nothing at all this year either, except one huge white volunteer tunie that came up where I had direct sowed something else from a seed trade. Very mysterious!

Hmmmm. My two containers of petunias are better than they've ever been other years.

Other than the weather being cooler than usual, the only other thing different this year is that I used fish emulsion.

I haven't fertilized enough this year - that might be the problem. I always envy Sharon's petunia containers, but she really works at them. One thing that did really well in a container this year was scaveola. I don't think i've had that before. I paired it with a heliotrope, but that never bloomed again after i cut it back the first time.

I'm pretty sure that most of my container problems this year are my fault - i was busy for the first half of the summer and lazy for the second half! LOL Now, back to work. :(
