I think that's what they do...I had them a couple of years and they grew
this tall.
I find there is so much green growths with very little flower on top,...but
the flowers are sure nice!

Cosmos can come in 3 or 4 foot tall varieties like the Sensations or seashells --in the mid 20" varieties like Sonata --and the 14" dwarf varieties like ladybird. The original varieties were tall.

If you were growing them from saved seed they wouldn't have come true, because most Cosnos varieties are hybrids. Saving Hybrid seed is a crap shoot you never know what you'll get.

I grew a newer type this year, new to me anyway. I like it better, more flowers, brighter color, different foliage. Polidor only grows about 4' and branches well.

I have tried growing the tall, ferny ones but found them lacking. I like Polidor better because of the different foliage, great branching habit and brighter flowers. Everyone who saw the plant liked it. I have already collected lots of seeds so I will have some for trade if anyone wants some. Marg

Thanks for the info! My cosmos has topped out at six feet high and has finally started blooming. It's a nice pink-purple-white mix of flowers.

All in all it's nice foliage and fills a big space. I would grow it again, but definitely not where it's planted right now... :S

Yes..I remember, late bloom and very little time to enjoy the nice flowers before the big FR....T

I got cosmoses as bedding out plants this year, they've been blooming for weeks now. They're in containers, they sure suck up water. I must've bought dwarf ones before as these ones are quite tall.
