Show & Tell Caterpillar

This one was in the raspberry, I don't think I have seen one like this before. The black is like our black Salamander color.
It would be nice if you can I.D. them.

Pachysphinx Modesta, about to pupate? Here's a link, scroll down and there is a picture taken in Vegreville of the pre-pupa stage, that looks very similar to your bug.

We found a White-marked Tussock Moth caterpillar today - it fell out of an ash tree into our picnic so we brought it home to hopefully pupate. I'm using my mesh cold-frame with ash boughs in it and the caterpillar is eating so that's a good sign. :0)
