Yep it's snowing out there. All that white stuff just coming down .No point getting upset cause it won't help. Just hope the few tomatoes left out did not freeze but it's still too dark to go check. My orange tree is out there too. Time for winter tires. Boo Hoo

Yes, a real shock to the system with all the snow in these hills north of Spruce Grove. This morning, I had immediately gotten outside and shook the show off many of the young trees bowed down to the snapping point with stuck on snow, the stuff was difficult to shake off. The raspberries were almost to the ground. I'm happy we had gotten out there last night and harvested all the tomatoes and any remaining tender veggies. As for the flowers, everything is realllly flattened! Though, this is Alberta and things could be worse when you consider seeing the wild weather and events in other places ... but, I wasn't expecting such an early fall garden clean up.

I feel for you all. I can't imagine it so early but better brace myself as temps are supposed to be at 0c Thursday morning.

It is depressing.... it's S*** here everywhere!!! That S*** even accumulated on my driveway!!!!!!! I just cannot believe it. 25 degrees C yesterday and now it's just S*** everywhere.... sigh!

My poor plants.... I just don't even want to imagine what they will be like after the S*** goes away this Thursday......

RIDICULOUS is all I can say!

If it you feel better we hit 27C today. But 0c forecasted on Thursday. Uggggggg.

Supposed to go to zero here tonight. I pulled up all the tomato plants, moved a few pots into the shed and dug up some of the plants I want to save and took a bunch of cuttings. I always find it hard to let go of my garden at this time of year.

I feel your pain! We have had snow and sleet for the last two days, temps below zero. Tonight is supposed to reach -6. Uhg. Have brought in buckets of green tomatoes, peppers, and the squash (not cured, obviously, so it won't be stored).

If nothing else, it forces a person to work out which heirloom varieties really are early! The only ones I managed to get a few ripe tomatoes from *before* these cold temps hit were Moskvich, Paul Robeson, Red Brandywine, and Yellow Taxi. Even the cherry tomatoes I grew hardly ripened before this snow. So disappointing!

I think I'll be exploring some short-season hybrid varieties next summer...

That sucks, but a wet snow is still better than a hard frost this time of year. Hopefully you get a few more weeks' enjoyment out of your flowers and stuff.
