| We don't usually get hummers here, guess we're not on the flight path. Anyway, last week I was watering the garden. This night I was using a foliar spray on all the plants. All of a sudden I noticed something flitting around in the spray, I use a garden hose with a spray attachment. Whenever I moved to a different location, the hummer would follow but after about 10 minutes it left. Guess it didn't like the fish fertilizer I was using. A few nights later I saw a different one at the malva. Two in one year is a record around here. Marg |

| You must have been thrilled to see them, especially twice. Where's your camera when you really need it? My MIL used to have them in B.C. and was able to sit and watch them fight over who got to use the feeder. I've only seen one hummingbird in my life other than the ones at her place. |

| This is great! After a while you'll know by the sound of fluttering that it is a hummer, even when you can't see them when buzzing past you. It seems the pair I had here left south. |

| We have a pair every year, and i wish we had more! They're fun to watch, especially the babies. When i sit outside drinking my morning coffee, they'll buzz right past me, a few inches away. I noticed them in the vegetable garden too this year, for some reason - what would dill nectar taste like?? LOL Ours seem to be gone as well. The last i saw of them was Thursday evening. Forgot to submit this, and just as well, because i need to add to it. I went outside awhile ago and caught some movement in one of the flower beds. It was a little hummer and not one of ours. She was smaller and more compact than ours were, and seemed a little clumsy as she went from flower to flower in a bed of impatiens. She seemed to like the dark pink ones best, ignoring the red and white, but she did sample some of the salmon ones. She rested a lot, on the ground, on stems and in the Nanking cherry nearby. I wonder if she's not really ready to travel. There's still some nectar in the feeder and a few warm days to come. She should stop over and feed herself up. :) Wouldn't be the first time we had a different hummer come for a few days late in the season. |

| Still have our hummers here. The are still going after the nectar in the Rose of Sharon blooms . In particular I grow Dame's Rocket, Larkspur and Rose of Sharon . They love these plants and we have hummers here every year because of those plants. Had one at one point this summer who would take a shortcut across the property by flying kitty corner thru the back porch ..... even stopped one day about 5 or 6 inches in front of my hubby's face . Flew in place for about 20 seconds and then whizzed off to do whatever it is hummers do when they are not feedling . I love their antics. Signet |
