Which daylily sellers do NOT have tissue culture plants?

Posted by ontnative 5b/USDA 4 (My Page) on

I am seeking info. from all you daylily lovers who contribute to this forum. Can someone give me list of Canadian daylily sources/nurseries that do NOT buy/sell or otherwise deal with tissue-cultured daylilies? Saying that you have field-grown plants is not the same as saying that these "original" plants were not TC daylilies that were planted out in rows in a field to be later sold. I know that Rural Roots (who bought out Cedar Ridge) and Whitehouse Perennials, both in Ontario, advertise NO TC plants, but do you know any more?

Hi ,

I can give you the name of a number of growers that I have dealt with and been extremely pleased both with their plants and their customer service . Also you can check on the Ontario Daylily society website for growers all over the place.

Two that I would highly recommend are Red Lane Gardens in P.E.I . and Coral Kincaid in Nova Scotia . Another I would recommend is Cannings Daylilies in Nova Scotia and then there is Fairyscape Daylilies ( links for all 4 of these and more can be found on the ODS website.)

Hope this helps ..

Signet

Thanks, Signet. I find it interesting that 3 out of 4 daylily sellers you recommend are from the Maritimes. I will peruse their websites over the winter and think about ordering for spring 2010 shipment.

Hi Ontnative,

I can give you other names in other provinces but the ones I mentioned are ones I have actually personally dealt with and found there plants and services to be excellent.

Vivances Nordiques and Hemerocalles Montfort in Quebec both sell good plants, no tissue culture.

Hi Ontnative,

If you're interested in spiders and uf's I'd highly recommend Joe Hawkins of Hawkvalley Hemerocallis Haven...
I'm sure none are tissue cultured and of impeccable quality... very generous guy...

Thanks everyone for the names of your favourite daylily nurseries. I almost got some free plants from Joe Hawkins a while back. He had too many plants and was trying to cut back. I didn't have any space for them at the time or I would have gotten some great plants I'm sure.

The only people that sell TC plants that I know are big box stores and garden centers. I had some TC plants back in the early days but i never sold them.
I have a new website
