Seeing the lovely pictures posted in another thread reminded me of my question.
In previous years I've grown A. Velvet Curtains and just loved it. This year I started some from old seed. They germinated just fine and seemed normal until I planted them out. Then nothing. They barely grew. They were totally insipid and weak and bugs attacked the leaves.
My question is, could old seed result in weak plants or were the growing conditions this year just not good for them? (We really did have an odd summer.)
If that was my first experience growing them, I sure wouldn't be doing it again. Any ideas of what went wrong?
