Should I pick all the beans?

Hi everyone,

With the cold spring and wet summer weather, my heirloom beans (for dried beans for seeds for next year) haven't quite matured to the point where they've dried out yet. I still have many many pods that are fat and green.

There is a risk of frost in my area tonight. My question is this - Should I harvest them now or wait? Would frost harm the seeds? I'm concerned about the quality of my seed for planting next year. Will I risk immature seeds if I harvest the pods now and let them dry indoors? Will I risk damaged seed if I leave them out in a frost?

If I should bring them inside now, should I live them in the pods to dry or should I take them out of the pods immediately and let the seeds dry out of the pod?

Let me know your experience. Thanks.

Jen
