Sweet Potato Vines

Last fall I decided to plant sweet potato vines so I planted both the variegated one and blackie in the 2 containers. They had full sun, eastern exposure and I have always had trouble keeping anything out there because it gets so hot but the vines did great. This morning I decided to clean out my planters. There were 4 vines in each planter and I got several 4" tubers and lots of small ones. I was wondering how to store them for the winter? Should I just mix them with peat moss and store them in a container? Thanks. Marg

You should fly south and take them with you, LOL !

Sorry, I get cranky knowing what season is coming next....

You should be able to store them like dahlias. I saved some once many years ago but I think I forgot to plant them in the spring. :/

I did read on a blog that they really aren't worth storing because they are so soft they end up rotting. Anybody know if that's true?

Why not store them, and check them periodically, and if they look iffy plant them up in the middle of winter? You can take slips off the plants easily, that much I remember.
