Is it too late to plant lilies?

Just spoke with Veseys to see when I might receive my lilies that were on backorder. Apparently they will be shipping them here in the next couple of days. We have been very lucky to have such a mild fall and no frost yet but unfortunately, I think it is pretty safe to say we WILL get winter this year. Is it too late to plant those bulbs here in Edmonton? Or can I overwinter them in pots in the garage? Any ideas? :)

Still an excellent time to plant lilies. Lily bulbs come with live roots on them and you don't want those to dry out and die, so don't leave the bulbs sitting around in dry air. Plant them, give them some water but don't waterlog, and perhaps give them a cover of mulch for extra winter protection of the newly-planted bulbs. They will probably perform so-so next year, and should do much better in following years.
