Favorite Weather?

| I love to sit on my front porch and watch/feel a thunderstorm coming. After a long, hot summer day, I know that the garden will get a good soaking and that we will have cooler, refreshing temperatures for the evening. |

| Spring when all the wildflowers are blooming. |

| There is nothing like waking up to the sound of rain on the roof. Or, if warm enough, the sound of rain coming through an open window. Often thought it would be nice to have a tin roof to emphasize the moment. |

| Southern california in winter after a rainstorm, the smog clears away, and you can see for miles and miles, snow on the mountains, on a clear sunny warm day, its completely gorgeous! |

| Summer time in N. California, watching the fog roll in as the sun sets on the ocean. The color combinations change by the minute. The summer fog is depended upon by the commercial farmer as a buffer from the heat. |

| My very favorite is a clear summer day when I can dig in my garden. My second favorite is also watching and feeling a thunderstorm. Whenever there was a thunderstorm with a good lightning show when I was a kid, my grandfather used to get us all together and we'd sit and watch it and eat popcorn together. |

| Yup, a thunderstorm coming. Most especially when you have a view across many miles. I used to wake my small children to watch storms. They love that memory, and talk about it often. |

| Luckily for me, living in NC, I like it sunny, 90 degrees, and humid. Then I can go swimming at the beach or in a pool without freezing my tail off. Alternatively, I like it sunny, 30 degrees, and freshly snowed, but only when I am near a ski resort. Otherwise, snow is useless to me. I like t-storms too, but only at night. I think there should be a way to regulate the weather so it rains every night mon-thurs, but is beautiful and sunny all weekend and during the day. Everyone wins- the farmers and gardeners get plenty of rain, nobody's weekend away is ruined by weather, don't get stuck in rain traffic going to work, don't have to slog across campus in the rain... So who's going to invent the weather machine? |

| I love the rain in the summer. When it has been raining off and on for a few days the grass smells so good and the moss garden turns many shades of green. A close second is a clear crisp day in fall. We drive down to the 4th of July campgrounds and look at the red maples (yes New Mexico has maples) and red oaks! Fireraven9 Come my spade. | My favorite in Utah is during the Mexican monsoons when a beautiful, sunny morning of working in the yard, turns into a powerful thunderstorm with plenty of lightning and a complete cloudburst. I love the smell of the dried wild wheatgrass after a big storm. The end of the monsoon is very depressing. Good thing there's football. |

In our area we often experience a long dry periods with very little rain for years at the time. It is now badly needed! So please 'Mother Nature' grant our wish for good rainy weather now. Supannee |

| Sun and rain seem to be the themes here--and I will take either one. But right now, here in the mid-Atlantic area, I'd like about a week of rain--those day-long, steady drips that irrigate the soil and yield to sunny days when plants seem to leap out of the ground. |

1. Cloudy, warm but with a cool wind 2. Sunny but not hot, breezy. 3. NOT MUGGY 4. Just before a HUGE thunderstorm 5. Freezing rainy (it does this like once in three years) 6. Gosh I wish it snowed here. I HATE it in the summer, when it is hot and muggy, and even the trees seem to sit there with their tongues out. Of course, here it is like that from April to November! (we only really have three seasons here- Scorching Hot, Not So Hot, and Slightly Cool. |

| before a thunderstorm is truly great: pull up a chair, get a drink and watch nature's theater. Also, a foggy morning near a lake, watching the mist move over the glassy surface, seeing the silhouettes of waterfowl go silently by.... |

| I love soft, warm (not hot), breezy days with fluffy white clouds and bluest of blue skies. The ones where the birds are chirping and the butterflies are flitting and the bees are doing their thing. Second, I like a good, long, soaking rain. You know, the kind where you can say "Well, I can't work in the yard, so I might as well read (or whatever)" Snuggling up on the couch with a good book on a rainy day makes me very happy. |

I love it ALL!!! but I think my favorite would be a cooling summers rain. Now ya'll may think this is "weird" but here in Alabama, (at least in our little corner) if the storms come and the power goes out we have a storm party!! Grab our favorite "beverage" and walk to the neighbors house or they come down and we watch for tornados!! |

| catahoula, I was just laughing at your post. In SC, I lived just east of Augusta, GA. If you watch the national weather reports you'll see that every line of severe thunder storms in that area comes up through Augusta. Our area was called "tornado alley", because during a bad storm, you could hear the little twisters popping the tops out of the pine trees in the tract down from my house. Of course, if the lights go off, you have no water, no nothing, so we'd all call each other to see whose house we were going to go to to eat up all the food in the frig before it spoiled. It was like an emergency covered dish dinner. Nothing like partying on warm beer and other people's leftovers. LOL |
