Favorite Winter 'Performance'

What plant puts on the best show in your garden in winter? Or do you have a winter combination that really works well?

Some of my favorites are:

Ilex verticillata (Winterberry Holly)--great red berries all winter with
Hamamelis mollis (Witch Hazel)--fragrant yellowish flowers in January-March
Acer griseum (Paperbark Maple)--exfoliating cinnamon-colored bark that looks beautiful with the sun shining through it
Pinus virginia 'Wates Golden'--smallish, sprawling habit with bright yellow needles in winter

I think I'm moving the Wates Golden closer to the Winterberry Holly so that they play off each other!

Any fragrant plant is my kind of plant. I am growing quite a few of the best sweet smelling plants. Many bloomers such as Jasmine, Murraya,
Tabernaemontana, and Rosemary bloom throughout the year in our garden. I must say I am more than willing to do almost anything to keep them
looking healthy.

I have a massive number of Aloe planted in close proximity to the Thuja. It is most fascinating to watch the hummers sampling the Aloe flowers
then disappearing into the Thuja's thick, dense foliage. I have a distinctive feeling that there might be some nests in those trees so I have been trying
hard not to disturb them. I enjoy tremendously spending time in the garden.
