Here's a good site to check out the nurseries...I try and order mostly from east coast as shipping is cheaper and plants survive the trip easier. Also, if you read the comments, you get a pretty good idea as to the reliability of the service, etc. Lots do have catalogs but Lazy S's Farms for instance just has a very good online site. I like this nursery and Plant Delights (nice catalog) and Niche Gardens (nice catalog...lots of native plants).

Another good source is if you are interested in perennials, for instance, the Perennials Forum here at Gardenweb usually has a thread on good nurseries (use the Search function to find the thread). Likewise, your state's forum...or your region, like southeast coast, etc.

Good luck...I learn a lot from catalogs! You can also Google using a particular plant's name and often find a nursery that way...then check to see if they offer a catalog. (But be sure to check them at the Watchdog site before you place an order). josh

RE: free catalogs

I have ordered from all the catalogs you listed above, and liked all of them. Bluestone sends very small plants, but the prices are decent for the quantity. Usually I can find similar plants at my local nursery, though. I don't often order from Park Seeds anymore because they are more expensive and don't offer many heirlooms & gourmet varieties, which I prefer, but their seed packs are nice. I love Pinetree! Such good prices and selection, perfect for the small home gardener who likes to try a lot of things!

I love the seeds from the Cook's Garden and also have enjoyed their cookbook.

Like the other poster, I love Plant Delights Nursery which offers a free catalog and have also visited many of their open houses. Wonderful plants! It is somewhat of a collector's catalog so if you aren't into unique plants you may prefer another type of catalog. If you happen to live in a hot and humid zone 6-8, it's ideal.

RE: free catalogs

I like Raintree Nursery and Burnt Ridge Nursery catalogs. They have quality and unusual plants. Go to their websites for a free catalog.
