Popularity contest

Hey, favorites!

I got this idea for a "popularity contest" which I hope will be taken in the benign spirit in which it's intended. After all, I am way past high school, and making the cheerleading squad was never on my list of ambitions, either. (I was disappointed at washing out in the President of the Student Body election, though.)

What I'd like to know (if you want to play, that is) - is this: Who is your favorite garden web forum participant? You probably have a lot - I sure do - but if you had to cast one vote, who might it be? Considerations might include level of expertise, wisdom and experience, generousity, getting along with others, sense of humor, leadership, and so on. So many forums, so many winners. But who's your favorite? I leave it up to you to decide whether or not listing runners-up is also appropriate.

I'd be glad to discuss my vote and why I cast it. But I'm going to refrain unless and until I get a few responses. This will tell me whether or not my idea is...popular...NOT!?

Regards,

cranebill

OK I'll take the bait!

I spend time on the New Gardener Forum (guess why) - and this a great opportunity to thank all the experienced people who guide us newcomers.

Meldy nva - you are my garden guru, forthcoming with so much information

Tapla - always clear, instructive, and kind

Gardengirl48 - there with help when I'm scratching my head

Thanks to all who take the time - It's appreciated

Loved the reference to high school. Us mere mortals who try to get answers to questions are for the most part ignored because we're not "popular". Great thread to let us unknowns know we're not wanted. You all know where you can go.

I'm new here - I get most of my answers without even posting questions on this site. I spend lots of time gleaning info from others inquiries. But when I have posted - and I'm unknown to all - I have received helpful and polite responses.

I see from your home page that you registered late in 2005 - maybe the sluggish response is just due to the fact that it is the off-season. It did seem that traffic on the site was a good bit heavier during the summer, but again, I'm new.

Cranebill - don't take it to heart - I thought it was a fun
idea.
