Least Favorite Bug II: The Return of...

I loved the last thread, but it hit its limit, so I thought I'd keep it going.

My least favorite bug has to be the maggot. Why? Well, long story short, my apartment was infested with them last fall.

I walk out of the *clean, well-cared for* apartment in the morning - all's fine and dandy. I return that night - over 300 maggots crawling all over my floors (carpeting *and* linoleum.) They must've come from the kitchen trashcan (which I'd emptied just 4 days earlier...) but I have no idea how they climbed up the sides, since none of them were anywhere but my floors. I had pick up everything on the floors (magazines, books, shoes, my favorite pair of jeans), try to avoid screaming when I'd see the little f___kers squirming underneath, and squish each and every one with tissues and throw them out. There were 4 under my bed!!!! It still makes me gag. Damn houseflies... Any possible ideas how that happened??

Meal moths! I made the mistake of buying some whole ground wheat flower from the health food store once, and didn't put it into a bin, but left it in the plastic bag. The meal moths got out and now they've invaded my house! Every single time I think I've gotten rid of them, they come back.

The nasty little maggots crawl up the wall to the ceiling and make a cocoon there. But the worst part is, they get into everything! I have to keep my cereals and meals in plastic containers now to keep them from getting into them, and even keep them in the freezer sometimes. Not the cereals, the meals.

I talked to an exterminator, and he said that I could do as good a job as he could (very honest of him), because you just had to seal everything up and keep at them until they were gone. He said that if he came to spray, he'd have to come back month after month, and it would be better for me to do a daily scan and get them that way.

Not many bugs 'bug' me, but I don't like Crickets!! I know they are relatively harmless, but their hairy little legs are really creepy!! I don't mind hearing their chirps, but I really don't want to see them.

Cockroaches are just plain gross, especially the ones that fly! Yuk!

(A personal note: a "weaserbug" can be a bit stubborn at times, but is usually friendly and kind.:)

The only good June bug is a dead one! Ugh, they are big and fat and fly in your hair at night and hit the windows of the house in the evening. The only good thing about them that I like is the birds they attract!

It's not really a bug, it's a mollusc, but it is hands-down the most destructive pest in the garden. In fact, it is really the only difficult to control pest. However, there is this compensation: the lovely crunching sound of their shells as I stomp them into oblivion.
