overlooked locals, etc.

I lived in one particular area of california my whole life, up until 5 years ago, when I moved just a couple of hours away, but totally different climate. When I go to visit my folks, who still live there, I find myself noticing all the wildflowers/weeds I find so many people from elsewhere seems to not get enough of, but overlooked by us locals. For instance: if I never see another native/multibranced sunflower again, it would be too soon. Same with moonflower (jimson weed type), black walnut tree volunteers, juniper, oleander (2 story high freeway medians!). I suppose I don't need to mention I'm talking about CA central valley, lol. Meanwhile, I cannot get enough of violets; the kind people further east curse for coming up in their lawns. Ooooh, and poppies which might last more than an afternoon!
What additions can you guys think of?
I suppose the grass is always greener. . .lol

I understand totally! I live in NW Florida panhandle and want to grow Iris and hosta and peonies and other things that grow further North in cooler climates.
Violets do grow here!

Trumpet vines-they're everywhere here-mostly growing up utility poles (which is a much better look than just a stark wood pole)--but some folks actually grow them in their gardens.
