I think that should work. After last Winter's pruning, I put some in a ziplock bag and left them in my garage and pretty much all of them had root and even leaves :D

Curious, how much moisture was in the ziplocks & any rooting medium?

I just stuck some Pakistan Mulberry cuttings in the ground, but they were cut fresh, not shipped across country, and, 6 weeks later, they are very green with bursting buds. The one in the container does have roots because you can lift the container with it. It hangs on. The ones in ground seem rooted, but I'm going to leave them alone.

Fig trees will root that way too, so probably you can do mulberries the same way as figs with sphagnum, baggie or whatever method you use.

I thought I'd go check on my potted Mulberries, and I was so surprised! You can see the tiny berries that are in the bud waiting to come out!

I got my tree from a member of garden web about 2 hours from us. We watched him prune, and got fresh cuttings. He told us he had berries the first year he rooted his in ground, and I can see how that works!
