outside overwinter potted figs

ours are in 20" pots.
previously we had ow'd in the unheated shed.
I was thinking that this time we'd leave them outside on the south facing side of the house. Wrapped in reflectix

and a pile of leaves in the pot.
It certainly gets cold here, but that side of the house gets excellent sun all winter.
Good alternative idea or back to the shed.
I hate to move them, ;-).

If your in NY, i'd put them back in the shed. Being in pots, theres a good chance the roots will freeze unless you bury the pots.

I put them on top of 2" of foam insulation and wrapped the pot as well as the tree in the reflectix. Piled with leaves, on top of more reflectix over the base below where it branches out.
That'll have to do for now.

Hi,

Some members said the dry,harsh wind in winter can do
damages to the unprotected trunk and branches by
drying them up which makes them brittle.
