Suggest figs for unusual climate

Hi, I would appreciate any comments in helping me decide on fig varieties. I am at 5000 ft. elevation in the Southern California mountains. We rarely get below 10F, but late frosts can occur as late as May 15. We normally don't get frost in the fall until at least mid Nov. Springs can be a bit foggy. We don't get all day sun anywhere due to tall pines in the neighborhood, but there are areas that we get sun for several hours along with high open shade. Our summers are rarely over 90F.
After research I am considering the following varieties.
-Osborn Prolific for shade tolerance
-Chicago Hardy, Desert King; ENGLISH BROWN TURKEY FIG; VIOLETTE DU BORDEAUX FIG; Royal Vineyard; Champagne Fig; LSU Black Fig

I look forward to any advice.

I think Celeste and Italian Honey might do well for you. Otherwise Desert King is pretty good in the rainy Seattle area. Good Luck!

Honestly, I'm not an expert, but the weather conditions will probably be less of a challenge than your lack of strong, hot sun. Figs love warm sun.

Just a suggestion....because the sun will move and shine directly on different areas at different parts of the day...containerize those fig trees and place those containers on rolling dollies. Then you can easily roll your trees around to where the sun is shining. Home Depot sells dollies, and large plastic storage tubs. Drill some holes into the bottom of those tubs, fill them with a good mix (check this forum for correct mixes for use in containers), stick them on a dolly, plant the fig trees, and you're good to go. And if I were you, I'd make sure to select a "short-season" fig variety. Try "ATREANO"...it's a short-season, golden-yellow variety. I grow it in containers, and it does very well in NYC. I have ripe figs by mid-August every year. One other suggestion if I may... buy a tree that's old enough to give you figs this year. Larger trees are more expensive, initially,... but then you'll see, and taste the results of your efforts by the end of the summer.

Of course, the above suggestions may not fit your circumstances, but I'm sure some alternative solutions can be found on this forum.

Hope this might have helped. With some smart shopping

Happy growing.
