Overwintering fig is budding

Oops. I brought my potted fig tree inside about a month ago as the temperatures dropped down to sub-20 range this winter. It's been unseasonably cold so far, and I didn't want the roots to freeze.

Well, even though we keep it cool and dark (~60), the fig has decided now is a good time to bud. The buds are about a centimeter as of now, and are growing pretty rapidly. I don't want to put it back outside until low temps are in the lower 30s again, but I'm worried that anything near that will kill all the little buds.

Does anyone have any good suggestions? I do have access to a garage that shouldn't ever get below 40, but is it too late for that now?

Thanks in advance.
