I would keep it around 60 degrees with a little bit of light until your outside temps get above 40-50 degrees, then move it outside.

I would not go back to a 40 degree garage as the fig is already coming out of dormancy.

Next year, go into the 40 degree garage and skip the 60 degree heat.

Just my two cents, I'm sure there are fig gurus here who will chime in.

I'm in a different zone (5) , but my potted fig trees also start developing buds on them in the winter, even though my storage place is around 35 degrees now. We've had sub zero temps outdoors here the past week or two.
In the past years, I just let them stay stored away until spring comes, then I put them outside in a sunny area and the buds open. Have to be careful that a cold spring treeze doesn't drop any figs that may be sprouting by then.

Not meaning to hijack, but my 4 potted Figs are doing the same thing- one even has a fig on it. I have no garage or shed so I keep them in a close in the basement.

Should I put them under the lights with my tropicals, try to make room in the small greenhouse, or just leave them?
