Where would be the besdt place to find fig growers?

Hello Everybody,

I came here about a year, year and a half ago. I was trying to find nurseries that were close to me that sold good quality fig trees. I live in western NY and I would like to start with maybe 3.

Right now I mainly grow tropical fruit trees. Mango, citrus and also annonas.

On top of that I also have a nice plumeria and Angel Trumpet collection.

I do have a lot of seeds and seedlings of some of my cherimoyas. I also have seeds of sugar apple and cherimoya and many brugs that I could trade for a roote fig cutting if anyone is interested.

So what I am mailny looking for is a info where to buy figs. I cannot remember the name but I know that there is a nursery in PA that specializes in Figs and if I cannot get anymore info I will order from him.

I have only ordered fig trees from Raintree. I have been happy with them. The trees are sent bareroot. Other nurseries that carry them are Encanto Farms, Burnt Ridge and Edible Landscaping. Just check this forum for nurseries. From what has been written and a quick visit to their site, I would not use Ty Ty and I would be cautious about Wilson.

Both have good reputations. Just Fruits and Exotics stops taking orders till the Fall Season at the end of this month.

Yeas Raintree ships them potted. That is why their shipping cost is a little bet expensive I think without any date alteration the charge is 21.95. If you alter the date it is 29.95. I bought some trees from them I am satisfied.

Thanks for all the help guys. I really appreciate it. It looks like I may be getting cuttings of Violette de Bardeux and Chicago Hardy.

Thanks to the generosity of a local fig grower, this coming week I will have 20 cuttings of 2 diffrent varieties. Right now, I do not remember exactly what I am getting, I do know that I will have celeste, chicago hardy, and the violette de Bardeux. The last 2 should come to me as rooted cuttings. I have never rooted fig cuttings before so I will be re reading some older posts to try and find what rooting techniques will work best for me.
